The people of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh have a strong connection to it. The schools in the city of Visakhapatnam were the first to recite the National Pledge in the country. In 1962 renowned Telugu author P.V Subba Rao composed the pledge while he was working as the District Treasury Office at Visakhapatnam.
